Basic Life Support (BLS) & Medical Emergencies in the Dental Practice
This course aligns with the annual BLS and Medical Emergencies the development
outcomes A,B,C and D for dental professionals set out by the General Dental and guidance
from Resuscitation Council UK.
During this course, you will learn how to:
- Understand the importance of early recognition, escalation and calling for emergency assistance
- Assess a casualty using the DRSABC approach (Danger, Response, Shout for Help, Airway, Breathing, CPR) (adult and paediatric) and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children and infants
- Recognition and management of common medical emergencies; heart attack, syncope, asthma, anaphylaxis, stroke, sepsis, seizures, diabetic emergencies
- Emergency Oxygen Administration
- Demonstrate the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Place an unconscious breathing casualty into the recovery position
- Recognise and manage choking in adults, children and infants
- Updates on Current Resuscitation Guidelines & Best Practices.
- Communication & Teamwork in Medical Emergencies.
